We recognize that the living oceans are fundamental for the future health of the Earth and all populations and eco-systems supported by this amazing planet. Everything we do, as well as the choices of the foods we consume, is an important decision. We are inter-connected in this delicate fabric, all creatures great and small. POF was one of the first seafood trading companies to obtain MSC chain of custody supplier certification for wild Alaska salmon. We have been an MSC supplier since 2008. We will continue to promote the sustainability of wild Alaska salmon through its newest certification body, Global Trust USA.
Although we are buyers and sellers of seafood already harvested and frozen, and not primary producers of seafood, we source all of our products from HACCP-compliant sources. We maintain extensive records, allowing traceability of everything we sell, back to the original production lots in Alaska or elsewhere.
As exporters, we comply with the newest international regulations for catch certifications of seafood products. These regulations protect our oceans against illegal, unreported or unregulated (IUU) harvests. We strongly oppose the mis-labeling of seafood products in any markets.
All of our products are stored at public cold storages in Seattle and in some of our key market countries. We are also active and engaged members of Northwest Fisheries Association, and have been since our inception. Our policy is clear: Know what you are selling and make sure that the customer knows what they are going to get when the product is delivered. We attempt to inspect whatever we offer, if feasible, and to be hands-on for our shipments. That is how we can earn our role as a vital link in the chain of seafood trade and distribution.
